Mary Zhou

Short Biography

Mary is a mature, friendly and approachable lawyer. She enjoys working with clients from different backgrounds. As a migrant, Mary has a deep understanding of challenges faced by migrants from minority groups. This gives Mary an understanding of her client’s stories, experiences and struggles.

Mary is a University of Waikato LLB, First Class Honours graduate. She was admitted to the Bar in 2012. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications Studies.

Mary is a legal aid provider with experience in refugee and immigration law and residence appeals, deportation appeals, visa application, ministerial requests and refugee and protection claims.

Mary mentors and supervises lawyers and law clerks at the law firm. Given her teaching background, she offers a supportive environment to other team members.

Her passion for justice and legal representation is connected to her passion in human rights and refugee and protection law. Mary has successfully represented her clients in very complex cases.
